Boyd Bacon is a 20 year faculty member at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he directs the Touch of Class Jazz Choir and Men¹s Glee and teaches theory/musicianship, choral arranging/orchestration, and voice. Mr Bacon also serves as Director of Fine Arts at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He taught music for 16 years at Columbus and Wahoo, where he also formed community choruses.
Mr. Bacon¹s compositions for school and church choirs have been published by 15 companies. Mr. Bacon has received awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). He has written commissions for bands as well as choirs.
He is past president of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, which honored him as its first recipient of the Choral Director of the Year Award. He has also been honored as an outstanding teacher by the Teachers College Alumni Association at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the Exemplary Teacher Award from the United Methodist Church. |
