On
the Nebraska Wesleyan University faculty
since 1973, Dr. Henderson teaches theory,
counterpoint, form & analysis, composition,
string methods, strings, and the
Recorder Ensemble. She has received a BA
from Nebraska Wesleyan University, MA in
theory from Eastman School of Music, and
MM in composition and viola performance
from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Henderson completed her DMA in composition in May 2003 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The
Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir debuted Dr. Henderson's
arrangement of The Ash Grove on their
1997 winter tour. A clip

The choir performed her song cycle, Bluestem
and Sumac with poetry by Twyla Hansen
on their 1999 tour of the Southwest. In the fall of 2007, the choir performed her anthem "Treasure Up My Commandments" for the inauguration of President Fred Ohles. And in September, Dr. Henderson's String Quartet No. 2 was given a world premiere by the Chiara String Quartet during the Visions and Ventures symposium.
Dr. Henderson plays viol and recorder in Lincoln early
music groups. She occasionally plays viola
with the Lincoln Orchestra and various string
quartets.
Dr. Henderson received the Ida M Vreeland
composition Award in 1994, a Regents Tuition
Fellowship and the Frank and Marie T Wheeler
Fellowship from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
for the 1995-96 academic year, and the 1995
Lillian Harlan Ramage composition award
from Mu Phi Epsilon. In July 2000, her Ricercar
for 4 viols was chosen for performance by
the New York consort of Viols for the Traynor
Competition at the VdGSA Conclave in Portland
OR.
