Howell graduated magna cum laude from Carleton
College, with a major in music theory and
history. She received her Master of Music
degree in flute from the University of Nebraska
where she studied with Don Lentz. Mrs. Howell
has been an active teacher and performer in
the Lincoln area for many years. She performs
on flute and piccolo with the Lincoln Orchestra
Association's Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
She has taught at the University of Nebraska-Omaha,
College of St. Mary and presently is on the
faculty at Nebraska Wesleyan University and
Doane College. An avid chamber musician, Mrs.
Howell regularly performs with the Huntington
Trio (in residence at Nebraska Wesleyan University),
Triumvirate - flute, viola and harp trio,
and several other small ensembles. She has
participated in the Nebraska Arts Council
Touring program with Triumvirate, and the
Nebraska Wesleyan Woodwind Trio. She has done
further study with Albert Tipton, Scott Goff
and Roger and Betty Bang Mather. Mrs. Howell
is a member of the National Music Teachers
Association and the National Flute Association.
