Lincoln Civic Orchestra

Tobin Stewart joined the Lincoln Civic Orchestra as director for the 2009-2010 season. He also teaches the advanced instrumental conducting course at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Tobin is currently working towards a D.M.A. in orchestral conducting at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. At UNL, Tobin is an Associate Conductor with the Symphony Orchestra, and he assists with teaching Beginning Conducting. Tobin received the F. Pace Woods Scholarship in Music after his first year in the doctoral program.

During the 2009 summer, Tobin traveled to Romania to study at the International Institute for Conductors with Ovidiu Balan, Robert Gutter, and Charles Gambetta. He also studied at the Omaha Symphony Conductors Symposium with Thomas Wilkins and Mark Gibson.

Tobin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Saint Olaf College and a Master of Music degree in music education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Before beginning his doctoral program, Tobin taught high school orchestra, band, and choir for eight and a half years in Omaha, Bellevue, and Lincoln. Tobin continues to work with high school ensembles as an adjudicator and a clinician.
